Fine and rare18K yellow gold, open-face, keyless-winding, roundshaped, pocket watch, with subsidiary seconds at 6 and five horological complications: • Instantaneous perpetual calendar • Date of the month (subsidiary dial at 6 o’clock) • Day of the week (subsidiary dial at 9 o’clock; indications given in English) • Month of the year (subsidiary dial at 3 o’clock; indications given in English) • Age and phases of the moon (subsidiary dial, graduated from 0 to 29 ½, and aperture at 12 o’clock) Custom-made three-piece polished case with screwed bezels. White enamel dial with revolving radial “Dauphine” numerals; blued steel “Spade” hands.

Caliber 19''', rhodium-plated, going barrel, straight-line equilibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold and platinum poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, index regulator with swanneck spring and micrometric screw, eight adjustments.

The case of this watch was probably replaced relatively early in its life, possibly as a result of the original having been damaged. Many watches of this type were sold in America and it is probable that the original owner thought it too difficult or costly to return the watch to Switzerland for a new case. The screwed bezels of the present case also attest to its American origin. A watch with identical dial and movement, retailed by Tiffany & Co., No. 174 688, sold in June 1917 to Tiffany, New York, is illustrated in “Patek Philippe, Genève”, Huber & Banbery, second edition, 1993, p. 205.
