Patek Philippe & Cie., Genève, No. 10937, made for the Polish market in 1855, sold on December 31, 1856. Fine and very rare 18K gold and painted on enamel en grisaille hunting-cased keyless pocket watch with early Philippe winding/setting system, accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.

Four-body, ?bassine et filets?, back with a black champlevé monogram, polished front, reeded band, gold hinged cuvette finely painted on enamel depicting a gentleman wearing the Virituti Military cross in his lapel, engine-turned and scrolling border. D. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, secured by two small screws. Blued steel Breguet hands. M. 39 mm. (18???), very rare Cal. 10R, frosted gilt, 15 jewels, straight line ?moustache? lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with flat balance spring, 3rd Philippe keyless winding/setting system. Signed on the movement, numbered on the case and movement. Diam. 45 mm.

Notes

The present watch, with an excellent ?en grisaille? painted on enamel miniature portait, features an early Philippe winding system, an early ?moustache? lever escapement, and a very rare caliber. We know of only one other caliber 10R.
