Hercules and Omphale Patek Philippe & Cie., Genève, No. 127772, case No. 238937. Made for F.D. Day & Co., Duluth, Minnesota, in 1904, sold in 1905. Very fine, rare and unusual, 18K gold, repoussé, painted on enamel and rose diamond-set lady's keyless triple-cased pendant watch in 18th century style. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives.

C. Outer: two-body, repoussé, decorated with scrolls and shells and a scene of Hercules and Omphale. Secondcase: two-body, finely chased with gold foliage, overlaid with dark red translucent enamel, set with rose diamonds,decorated with a painted on enamel scene of three cherubs with doves amongst the clouds. Inner - two-body, goldband, glazed back, swivel bow. D. White enamel, red Breguet numerals and red minute ring, outer gold paintedArabic five minute markers. Gold "Louis" hands. M. 10''', rhodium-plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 18 jewels,wolf's tooth winding, straight line "moustache" lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, bluedsteel flat balance-spring, index regulator.Dial and movement signed, case numbered.Diam. 32.5 mm.

The style of the repoussé of the present watch?s case, very similar to that of the previous lot, suggests that it was also executed by Georges Hantz.
