Patek Philippe & Cie., Geneve, No. 86901, case No. 212406, produced in 1891, sold circa 1916. Very rare silver, keyless inking chronograph with instantaneous 60 minute recorder, in original fitted box with original ink bottle and pin.

C. Double body, massive, "bassine et filets", polished, the back engraved with initials "W.L.". D. White enamel with Arabic numerals and subsidiary minute registers. Blued steel arrow patent inking hand. M. 20"', frosted and gilt quarter plate, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring. Chronograph button on the winding crown and inking push-pieces in the band. Signed on the dial and movement. Diam. 56 mm.

This inking chronograph is identical to No. 86902, sold by Antiquorum in Geneva on October 19, 1997, lot No. 518. It appears to be from a later series made by Patek Philippe 15 years after the first one and developed from a specially made calibre movement.
