Patek Philippe & Co., Genève, No. 80058. Made for M. S. Smith & Co., Detroit, Michigan. Sold in 1888. Very fine and rare, keyless, minute-repeating, 18K yellow gold pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph. Accompanied by an Extract from the Archives.
C. Four-body, "bassine", solid, polished, hinged gold cuvette. D. White enamel with painted Arabic numerals, outer minute and 1/5th seconds chronograph divisions with red Arabic 5 minutes/seconds markers. Blued steel ?spade? hands. M. Cal. 19''', maillechort, "fausses côtes" decoration, 26 jewels, straight line counterpoised and calibrated lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, swan-neck micrometer regulator, brushed steel chronograph work operated by a button on the band and on the crown, repeating on gongs through activating slide on the band. Dial and movement signed, case numbered and signed ?A.W.C.Co.? Diam. 52 mm.
