18K yellow gold and enamel, open-face, keyless-winding, roundshaped, Neoclassical dress-watch, with subsidiary seconds at 6. White enamel dial with "Grecque" (Greek-style Arabic) numerals. Black champlevé enamel case-back, with a decor of arabesques in ramolayé-technique (pounced ornament), recovered under fondant (flux), probably by L. Mayland, Geneva.

The Extract from the Archives, dated March 12, 2018, mentioned that this watch was sold on December 15, 1920. Patek Philippe, ramolayé-technique enamel case In the 1920’s, Patek Philippe produced some dress-watches whose cases were made using the ramolayé-technique; the enamel background is black or blue and the decor in gold. The production books of the manufactory mention that these works were entrusted to a craftsman enameller, L. Mayland, Geneva. Few examples are today kept in the Patek Philippe Museum, Geneva (P-261, P-285, P-1377; see Huber & Banbery, 1993, p. 163, ill. 113 a-b, 114 a-b). Another Patek Philippe dress-watch ?? representing a “Griffon” ?? is known, the case-back made with a mixture of more complex technique, using also the champlevé-technique imitating the cloisonné-work and the painting on enamel (PPM, Inv. P-105; see Huber & Banbery, 1993, p. 167, ill. 126). Davis & Hawley, Bridgeport & Waterbury, Connecticut (USA) Davis & Hawley was one of the oldest jewellers in Bridgeport, CT, and offered exceptional jewellery and timepieces in the New England area in the late-19th and early-20th centuries.
