Notes
Property of an important Italian family. This newly discovered 130 with sector dial has remained in the same family since the 1970's. The owner was a keen Patek Philippe collector and appreciated the simple yet refined designs of Patek Philippe watches (for other watches from his collection see lot 516, Patek 130 yellow gold with sector dial, lot 519, Patek 1526, lot 559, Patek 3540 and lot 560 Patek 1518). Different from the regular gold 130's, the stainless steel version was constructed with shorter but stronger lugs, giving the steel version more presence. The original dial shows raised enamel signatures and tracks keeping with its factory configuration and has been kept in excellent condition, only 2 spots have been retouched in the sector dial at some point in its life. While most complicated Patek Philippe were, at the time, in gold, stainless steel versions are extremely rare and this example sold at the beginning of WWII, might explain the metal choice. An extremely clean and well maintained 130 steel with sector dial.
