Patek Philippe, Reference 1579
This reference is launched in 1943 and remained in production until circa 1964.
This round-shaped watch is fitted with the Cal. 13-130 with chronograph.
The majority in yellow gold (around 380 examples), more rarely in pink gold (around 80 examples); only six examples in stainless steel are known to-date and only three in platinum.
This reference was made in two series:
• 1st series, from 1943 to 1949, with Arabic and “baton” numerals, “baton” or “feuille” hands.
• 2nd series, from 1950 to 1964, with Arabic and square numerals, “feuille” hands.
Its large case (about 3 mm. more than the Ref. 130) and its faceted lugs gives it a lot of attraction from collectors.
