The watch of Artur Hescket Hall (1896-1970), Brazilian General 18K pink gold, manual-winding, vertical rectangular-shaped with concave sides, gentleman’s wristwatch, with snap-on case-back, flared pillar-shaped lugs, faceted crystal-glass, silver dial with subsidiary seconds at 6. Case-back engraved in taille-douce (fine cut) with the mention “Os oficiais de S. Paulo / e Mato Grosso ao seu / grande Chefe Gen. / Hescket Hall / S. P. 20-VII-57” (The officers of São Paulo and Mato Grosso to his Great Chief General Hescket Hall, São Paulo, July 20, 1957).

This reference is launched in 1944 and remained in production until the late-1960’s.
This rectangular-shaped watch is fitted with the Cal. 9-90.
The majority in yellow gold, more rarely in rose gold and even more rarely in platinum.
Around 1 000 examples were produced; some with integrated bracelet.
The watch is so-called “Hour Glass” by collectors.

Hall, Artur Hescket (1896-1970), Brazilian General
Artur Hescket Hall was born in Rio de Janeiro on July 20, 1894.
Promoted to Second-Lieutenant in January 1917, he became Captain in October 1927 and Major in October 1934, then Lieutenant-Colonel in December 1938 and Colonel in December 1941.
From 1943 to 1946, he commanded the 15th Independent Cavalry Regiment. He was promoted to Brigadier-General in June 1946. Transferred to Rio Grande do Sul, he assumed command of the 1st Cavalry Division, based in Santiago, in March 1947, where he remained until March 1949. He was Military-adviser to the Brazilian delegation to the United Nations in New York from January 1953 to March 1955.
During his military career, he attended the Infantry and Cavalry, he was appointed head of the Army’s Directorate General of Military Materiel and then promoted to General of the Brazilian Army from 1956 to 1958.
He then took command of the Escola Superior de Guerra (ESG) and took charge of the Armed Forces General Staff (EMFA) for only two months. He was then reappointed Military-adviser to the Brazilian delegation to the United Nations, a position he held until the following July.
He then served as a Military-attaché at the Brazilian Embassy in Paraguay.
He died on 25 January 1970. He entered the Porto Alegre War School in 1911.
