Production of this reference started in 1958. The caliber 12-400 was in production then, and some of the examples were Amagnetic. The Amagnetic cal. 27-400 AM was launched in 1960 such as this lot. Amagnetic calibers are fitted with a bronze beryllium lever escapement and are protected by a soft iron cap. Similar watches are published in Patek Philippe Wristwatches, by M. Huber and Alan Banbery, 1998, pp. 192 and 194.
