Notes

The Extract from the Archives, dated September 19, 2019, mentioned that this watch was sold on December 5, 1969. Patek Philippe, Reference 3565 This reference was produced for only two years from 1968 to 1971. A small series of this model was made by special order for “IOS”, the Investors Overseas Services mutual fund founded by Bernie Cornfeld and presented to their best clients, the members of the Million Dollar Associate, Investors Overseas Services Ltd. Mr. Cornfeld, renowned for an eccentric personality, moved from the United States to France in 1955, and then set up IOS headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, in the 1960’s. The empire crashed in 1973 resulting in the arrest and trial for mismanagement for Cornfeld, for which he was later acquitted. The special belt-like bracelet with buckle were made especially for this reference.
