Notes

Consigned by the son of the original owner, this Beta 21 has an interesting background. Upon his visit to the Patek Philippe boutique in Geneva, he fell in love with the seventies design of the Beta 21 and immediately purchased a yellow gold model with yellow gold bracelet. Upon his return, his wife absolutely despised the watch and asked him to return the watch so he returned it to the boutique and exchanged it for this model in white gold fitted on a leather strap. The accompanying invoice interestingly details this transaction showing the price of CHF 7’900 for the yellow gold and the exchange for the white gold for CHF 5’900. At the same time he purchased a necklace and left his other watch, a Patek 2499 (movement number 868747) that was sold by Antiquorum in May 1992 (lot 208) for an overhaul.
While the Beta Quartz model was often sold with an integrated bracelet, this 3597 is the desirable version sold on a leather bracelet and is complete with all its original documentation and in excellent condition with a sharp case and a deep hallmark on the side of the case.
