Notes

Based on the research, Patek Philippe Reference 3971 was produced in extremely limited numbers, with fewer than 300 examples ever made. This rare reference was manufactured alongside the first and second series of the Reference 3970, specifically between 1986 and approximately 1990, before being discontinued. The 3971’s defining characteristic was its sapphire crystal caseback that revealed the beautiful CH 27-70 Q movement, distinguishing it from the solid-back 3970. Its extremely limited production numbers, combined with the distinctive hallmark stamps on the sides of the lugs, make it one of the most sought-after and collectible Patek Philippe references from this transitional period in the company’s history.

The presented amazing Ref 3971/E, preserved in excellent condition, consigned by a collector, who carefully take care of this example for more than a decade. The case retains its crisp definition, while the perfect dial and hands remain untouched by time. This exceptional example arrives complete with its original fitted box, early certificate, promotional literature, and pushing pin—a complete set that elevates this already extraordinary timepiece to true collector status.
