The marquetry specialist selects from up to 70 different wood varieties to capture the subtle color transitions andtextures of the rabbits’ fur. Using specialized tools like a fretsaw or chevalet with ultra-fine blades, the artisancuts minute wood fragments—some thinner than a human hair. Each microscopic fragment requires exceptionalprecision and patience, with master craftsmen selecting specific wood varieties for their natural colors andtextures to achieve remarkable depth and detail.
These precisely cut pieces are meticulously assembled with hot glue and pressed together. Multiple layers ofveneer may be superimposed to create a three-dimensional effect despite the dial’s flat surface.
