PATEK PHILIPPE REF. 5109 PLATINUM GONDOLO - THE FIRST EXAMPLE IN PLATINUM AT AUCTION Patek Philippe, Genève, Gondolo, No. 1889315, case No. 4270679, Ref. 5109P. Sold on December 12, 2004. Very fine and very rare, large rectangular, platinum and diamond wristwatch with a Patek Philippe platinum buckle. Accompanied by a Patek Philippe fitted box, Certificate of Origin and booklets.
Two-body, solid, polished and brushed, inclined bezel, case back with 4 screws, straight lugs, set with a single Top Wesselton diamond on the band between the lugs at 6 o'clock, sapphire crystal. Brushed silver with applied white gold baton quarter-hour indexes and Arabic 12, painted baton hour indexes and outer minute track, subsidiary seconds dial. Black oxidized gold feuille hands. Cal. 215, stamped with the Seal of Geneva quality mark, rhodium-plated, fausses cotes decoration, 18 jewels, straight- line lever escapement, Gyromax balance adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, shock absorber, self compensating free-sprung flat balance spring.
