Notes

Property of a Swiss collector.

To many vintage Patek Philippe collectors, the reference 565 remains one of the most collectible due to its avant-guarde design. Built in a large for the time case of 35 mm, it features a an attractive smooth bezel and a waterproof antimagnetic case built by Taubert & Fils (case stamp FB), previously known as Francois Borgel. Made in 2 versions one with a center-second (caliber 12 SC, later the 27 SC) and the other with subsidiary seconds such as this example produced under 2 calibers (intially the 12-120 until about 1950 later the 12-400).

This example features a very rare dial with a combination of arabic indexes and applied baton numerals which happened to be the base for the design of the re-edition of reference 5565 made in commemoration of the re-opening of the boutique on Rue du Rhone in 2006.
