Notes

Patek Philippe, Ref. 5960P

Launched in 2006 at the Basel Fair, it houses Patek Philippe's first in-house chronograph calibre and sets the stage for future development using calibre 28-520. In its current form, as used in Ref. 5960P, it has an annual calendar combined with hour and minute recorder on the same subsidiary dial. The two times 30-minute register is used in conjunction with the aperture at the 6 o'clock position indicating if the minutes are in the first or second 30 minutes. The ingenious clutch mechanism employed in the chronograph allows the wearer to maintain the chronograph in use without additional wear on the movement, thereby negating the need for constant seconds. This clutch system also makes the chronograph start instantaneous without the immeasurable jump that sometimes occurs with other chronograph systems.

In 2011, Patek Philippe added a baguette diamond bezel (4.68 ct.) and baguette indexes in the newly created 5961P that featured a beautiful matt blue dial. Sold new at Bucherer in 2012 it has been kept in excellent overall condition accompanied by its certificate of origin.
