Notes

This exceptional highly engraved pocket watch is part of a unique series made by Patek Philippe. In fact each of these watches in these series bear a unique number after the reference that characterises the type either with simple or complex engravings or enamel or both, some of these enamelled by Suzanne Rohr. This example entirely engraved not only on the case but also on the bow and bezel represents a hunting scene inspired by the "Boar Hunt" by the Flemish painter Franz Snyders (1579-1657). Interesting this watch is represented in the Patek Philippe 1976 catalogue and is specifically mentioned "Not for sale". One can assume an important client saw it illustrated and asked if it could be purchased, making this an extremely rare opportunity to purchase one of the most important hand-engraved reference 866 to appear on the market.
