Production of this reference started in 1938 to 1971.Extremely fine, and probably unique, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with squarebutton split-seconds chronograph, register and tachometer with special dial. Accompanied by an 18K yellow gold Patek Philippe buckle.

C. three-body, solid, polished, concave lugs, engraved case back. D. matte silver with painted Arabic numerals, auxiliary seconds and 30 minutes register dials, outer tachometer graduation. "Bâton" blued steel hands. M. Cal. 13''' rhodium-plated, "fausses côtes" decoration, 25 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, Breguet balance-spring, micrometer regulator. The start, stop and return to zero function of the split-seconds hand is done by means of the winding-crown.Dial, case and movement signed.Diam. 33 mm.

Notes

This watch is probably unique because the tachometer scale is located on the inside of the outer ring, and not on the outside, as is usually the case, and the numerals of this scale are horizontally oriented as opposed to a more usual radial orientation. This particularity makes this watch especially rare and interesting.Ref. 1436Split-seconds chronograph wristwatches were "the must" of Patek Philippe technology and after 1938 were generally cased with this Reference.The majority are in yellow gold. Rarely, they are in pink gold, and only three stainless steel examples are known, two of which were sold by Antiquorum:- Geneva, April 10, 1994, lot 431.- Geneva, April 23 1995, lot 457.In the mid-1950's some were produced with a coaxial button on the winding-crown for the split-seconds functions (stop and reunite).
