Notes

The original case back of the present watch was lost and it is now fitted with a replacement not made by Patek Philippe. An Extract from the Archives cannot be obtained for this watch. A similar watch is published in ?Collecting Patek Philippe Wristwatches? by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, 2004, vol. II, pp. 124 to 127. Ref. 1526 This watch was produced with the caliber 12'''-120 QP, the majority of examples in yellow gold, more rarely in pink gold, and only one example in stainless steel is known to date. - First series: with indirect center-seconds, produced in a very few examples. One of these watches was sold by Antiquorum Geneva, in the Thematic Auction "The Art of Patek Philippe" on April 9, 1989, lot 203. - Second series: with concentric auxiliary dials for the seconds and the days of the month. The dials for this reference, second series, are known to date with three different designs: - the seconds division scale on the outside of the auxiliary date dial, quite rare - the seconds division on the inside of the auxiliary dial - the seconds division only on the bottom portion of the auxiliary dial, below the moon phase aperture. The applied gold upright Arabic numbers are of two kinds: - the larger type, more common - the smaller type, as in the present lot, much rarer.
