Patek, Philippe & Cie., Genève, No. 931343, case No. 694638, Ref. 600/1, specially ordered by Patek Philippe's Saudi Arabian retailer in 1953 in honor of King Abdul al-Aziz III Ibn Saud (1880-1953), founder of Saudia Arabia. Fine 18K pink gold keyless presentation dress watch with a painted enamel dial. C.Three-body, "Moderne", brushed case back, polished bezels. D. Ivory-colored bearing the portrait of the King of Saudi Arabia - the miniature was hand-painted on each watch - with applied round and baguette ruby-set indexes, subsidiary seconds. Pink gold "Dauphine" hands. M. Cal. 17-140, rhodium-plated, "fausses-côtes" decoration, 18 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring, micrometer regulator. Very fine and rare center second, 18K pink gold and ruby gentleman's wristwatch with a painted enamel dial and an 18K pink gold Patek Philippe tiled bracelet. Both accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.

Notes

A series of 200 pocket watches, Ref. 600/1, and 150 wristwatches, Ref. 2481, all with ivory-colored enamel dial bearing the portrait of the King and ruby indexes, were made for King Abdul al-Aziz III Ibn Saud in 1953. In 1975, another series of wristwatches, Ref. 3688/901, were made by Patek Philippe with the effigy of King Abdul Aziz's son, King Faisal ibn Abdul Aziz al Saud of Saudi Arabia.
