Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneve, No. 722704, case No. 306209, Ref. 2523, made in 1953, sold on 9 July 1956. Extremely fine and rare, "World Time", 18K yellow gold and enamel gentleman's wristwatch with two crowns.

C. massive, polished, lapidated lugs. D. matt silver revolving ring dial bearing the names of 41 towns in the world, at the centre, a gold ring with applied gold indexes and a blue enamel medallion, concentric revolving dial in 24 hours for the nocturnal and diurnal hours. The winding-crown at 3 o'clock adjusts the hours and the 24 hours ring; the winding-crown at 9 o'clock turns the ring with the places names. Gold fancy hands. M. 12"' 400 Geneva Quality Hall Mark, rhodium plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 18 jewels, lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to heat, cold isochronism and 5 positions, antishock system, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring, micrometer regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. In excellent condition. Diam. 36 mm.

This "World Time" system was invented by Louis Colder and produced for Patek Philippe, Vacheron & Constantin, Agassiz and Rolex. Patelc Philippe has created several models of "World Time" watches and wristwatches, comprising several dress watches, some with " cloisonnc " enamel dial, wristwatches with one or two crowns, some also with "cloisonnc " enamel dials, usually representing polychrome maps or planispheres of various areas of the world, and a unique rectangular "galbe" pink gold model made in 1937.
