Ref. 3448
Produced in 586 examples from 1962 to 1982, with the caliber 27-460 Q, the majority in yellow gold, rarely in pink or white gold. This series began with the serial number 1119000.
A small series of watches was made by Patek Philippe featuring special prototype dials without moon phases. This watch is one of only six known today:
One, in yellow gold, was sold by Antiquorum on November 19, 2000, lot 276; a second in yellow gold was sold in June 2003, lot 394. one in white gold was sold by Antiquorum in April 2004, lot 170, the fourth is the present watch.
A similar wristwatch with this reference is illustrated on page 289 of the 1998 edition of the Patek Philippe book and is mentioned as having been modified by the removal of the moon phases and the addition of a dial concentric to the day of the month graduation, for the leap year indication.
A unique example of this reference is known to date in platinum. Its movement was made in 1973 and, at the request of the owner, it was cased in platinum by Patek Philippe, with sapphire indexes on the dial, and was delivered on January 9, 1997.
The present watch was previously sold by Antiquorum Geneva on November 14, 2004, lot 110.
