D. matt silver with applied gold indexes, graduation for the clays of the month, apertures for the clays of the week, the months and the lunations. "Dauphine " gold hands. M. 23-300 Q, Geneva Quality Hall Mark, rhodium plated, "fausses cotes" decoration, 18 jewels, lever escapement, Giromax balance adjusted for heat, cold isochronism and 5 positions, antishock system, self-compensating Breguet balance-spring. Provenance This watch was purchased by the present owner from the Patek Philippe retailer for the equivalent of US$ 9,000, in 1981. Ref. 3449 Only three examples of this model were made by Patek Philippe, circa 1961, as is stated in Patek Philippe Geneve, Wristwatches, by Martin Huber and Alan Banbery, Antiquorum Editions, p. 216, pl. 370 a. All three watches carry consecutive numbers of movements and cases: The first is the present watch, which carries the movement No. 799000 and case No. 311261. The second, with movement No. 799001 and case No. 311262, was sold by Antiquorum, Geneve, April 9, 1989, The Art of Patch Philippe, lot 295, at SFr. 286'000 (US$ 173,350) and is in the Patek Philippe Museum, Geneva. The third, with movement No. 799002 and case No. 311263, was sold by Christie's, New York, June 26, 1996, lot 315, at US$ 786,000 (SFr. 990'000) and is the pride and joy of an European private Collector who intends to treasure it for many years to come.
