For a note on Ref. 3940, see lot 339. This lot is particularly interesting due to its very unusual dial, which was probably made on special order as per the customer?s request. A similar watch is illustrated in ?Collecting Patek Philippe Wristwatches? by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, 2004, vol. I, p. 77.
