Notes

The owner of the present watch, very particular about dial design, purchased several dials for his Ref. 3940 as new dial designs were introduced by Patek Philippe. The designs of the two additional dials include one with subsidary dials slightly less recessed than the original dial, as well as a Roman numeral dial with the new indexes and hand design.
Ref. 3940

Production of this reference started in 1985 and ceased in April 2007. The model No. 1 was dedicated to Theodor Beyer and is now in the "Museum of Time Measurement" in Zürich. Ref. 3940 replaced References 3848 & 3850 and is among the most sought after Patek Philippe references by collectors and enthusiasts.
