Notes

Ref. 3979 This series was produced in yellow gold and a few examples in white gold. Production began in 1989 with the caliber R 27 P.S., featuring 342 components and bearing the serial number 1904000. The present watch, with movement 1904062, is therefore the 63rd watch of the series. Production of this Ref. ceased in 1998 and was replaced by Ref. 5979. Therefore, it is reasonable to surmise, as the present watch is one of the last produced, that fewer than 80 examples of this Reference were made. It is also a technical exploit to incorporate in a 12 1/2''' movement a micro-rotor oscillating mass together with a minute-repeating mechanism. The first watch of this Ref. 3979 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches, by Martin Huber and Alan Banbery, 1998 Edition, p. 320.
