The "Pagoda" series was specially produced in 1997 to mark the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new watchmaking centre in Geneva. Destruction of the tools and dies used in its manufacture ensures that this model, reference 5500, can no longer be produced. Each watch is accompanied by a silver medal edited for the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new manufacture and bears the dedication: Henri Stern et Philippe Sterna taus nos amis, a l'occasion de l'inauguration de la nouvelle Manufacture Patek Philippe. This series of wristwatches was produced in limited editions as follows: Gentleman's chronometer wristwatches, Ref. 5500: 1100 in 18K yellow gold - Ref. 5500J 500 in 18K pink gold - Ref. 5500R 250 in 18K white gold - Ref. 5500G 150 in platinum - Ref. 5500P Each watch is also accompanied by a "Bulletin de Marche" delivered by the "Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres". Lady's wristwatches, Ref. 4900: 500 in 18K yellow gold - Ref. 4900J 150 in I8IS pink gold - Ref. 4900R 100 in 18K white gold - Ref. 4900G The "Pagoda" limited edition sets were produced in 5 examples only.
