Patek Philippe & Cie, Genève, No. 811161, case No. 294862, Ref. 515, made in 1937 fora New- Yorker customer. Extremely fine and unique, "World Time", rectangular "galbé", pink gold gentleman's wristwatch.

C. shaped, massive, polished, lapidated bezel and lugs. D. mat silver bearing all around the names of 28 towns in the world, concentric, revolving pink dial in 24 hours, at the centre, applied gold indexes and Arabic numerals. Fancy pink gold hands. M. 10"'HU rhodiumed, "fausses côtes" decoration, 18 jewels, lever escapement "à moustache", cut bimetallic balance, flat balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. In very good condition. Dim. 25 x 42 mm.

This watch is published in "Patek Philippe Wristwatches", page 191, and in "A Time to Watch", p. 47. In this first example of "World Time" wristwatch by Patek Philippe, the towns display is fix and based on New York City at 12 o'clock. In the following series, improved by louis Cottier, the bezel with the town names revolves and the chosen city name must be placed at 12 o'clock. Then, automatically the time in the other selected towns is indicated.
