Notes

"Pagoda" The "Pagoda" series was specially created in 1997 to mark the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new watchmaking manufacture in Geneva. 2 limited editions were issued: Ref. 5500, the Gentleman?s model, in 2000 examples and Ref. 4900, the Lady?s model, in 750 examples. Destruction of the tools and dies used in the production of the Pagoda ensures that neither Ref. 5500 nor 4900 can ever again be manufactured. To further ensure their exclusivity, each edition came in different metals for the cases and was made in the following quantities:

- Ref. 5500J : 1100 in 18K yellow gold,
- Ref. 5500R : 500 in 18K rose gold,
- Ref. 5500G : 250 in 18K white gold
- Ref. 5500P : 150 in platinum.
- Ref. 4900J : 500 in 18K yellow gold,
- Ref. 4900 R : 150 in 18K rose gold
- Ref. 4900G : 100 in 18K white gold.

The "Pagoda" limited edition sets were produced in 5 collectible sets only. Patek Philippe?s first commemorative timepieces ever, the Pagodas drew their inspiration from Patek?s famous 1940s "Eiffel tower" design. Similar watches are published in "Patek Philippe Wristwatches" by Martin Huber and Alan Banbery, 1998 Edition, pp. 124 and 127.
