Ref. 5500, ?Pagoda?
A limited edition collection of men?s and women?s watches, launched in 1997, to commemorate the opening of Patek Philippe?s new manufacturing center in Plan les Ouates, Geneva. Inspired by a rare 1940s model, the Pagoda captures the artistic ideal of the 20th century, reconciling beauty and function in its streamlined, sculpted curves. The back is engraved with a text identifying each watch as a limited edition piece. The limited edition was produced as follows:
- 1100 examples in 18K yellow gold, champagne dial with applied yellow gold Roman numerals
- 500 examples in 18K pink gold, silver dial with applied pink gold Roman numerals
- 250 examples in 18K white gold, pink dial with applied white gold Roman numerals
- 150 examples in platinum 950, black dial with applied white gold Roman numerals For the first time in watchmaking history, in order to give official recognition of the exceptional quality, precision, and excellence of their craftsmanship, Switzerland?s Official Chronometer Certification bureau (the C.O.S.C.) and the Geneva Seal Authority joined together to issue a new exclusive individual rating certificate.
This was the first watch ever to be issued with this certificate.
