Patek Philippe & Cie, Geneve, "Pagoda", Ref. 5500J, made in 1997. Very fine and rare, rectangular "bombe", "Pagoda" shaped, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with leather strap and 18K gold Patek Philippe buckle.

C. two body, flared, massive, polished, satined, concave sides. D. champagne with applied yellow gold Roman numerals, auxiliary seconds dial. "Feuille " blued steel hands. M. 215 PS, Geneva Quality Hall Mark, rhodium plated, "fausses cotes " decoration, 18 jewels, lever escapement, Giromax balance adjusted for heat, cold isochronism and 5 positions, antishock system, self-compensating flat balance-spring. Dial, case and movement signed. Dim. 29 x 41 mm.

The Pagoda series was specially produced in 1997 to mark the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new watchmaking centre in Geneva. Destruction of the tools and dies used in its manufacture ensures that this model, reference 5500, can no longer be produced. Each watch is accompanied by a silver medal edited for the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new manufacture and bears the dedication: Henri Stern et Philippe Stern a tons nos antis, a 1 Occasion de t'inanguration de la nouvelle Manufacture Patek Philippe. This series of wristwatches was produced in limited editions as follows: Gentleman's chronometer wristwatches, Ref. 5500: 1100 examples in 18K yellow gold - Ref. 5500J 500 examples in 18K pink gold - Ref. 5500R 250 examples in 18K white gold - Ref. 5500G 150 examples in platinum - Ref. 5500P Each watch is also accompanied by a Bulletin de Marche delivered by the Conlydle Officiel Suisse des Chronometrcc.
