''THE CHERUB MUSICIANS'' PERRENOUD MINUTE-REPEATER AUTOMATON POCKET WATCH YELLOW GOLD J. & A. Perrenoud & Cie, Le Locle, No. 4317. Made circa 1880. Very fine, minute-repeating, heavy, 18K yellow gold, hunting cased keyless pocket watch.

Four-body, "bassine", etched and engraved with stylized foliage, Hinged gold cuvette, over glazed gold bezel to view the movement. Outer silver reserve dial with applied black Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds dial. Blue steel Breguet hands. Inner silver dial plate applied with gold automaton figures: cherub on the right and left, striking hours, quarters and minutes on gongs. 42 mm. rhodium-plated, brushed, 28 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance-spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed and numbered.
