Notes

In a period when watch manufacturers are tending to offer almost exclusively large-size models, Piaget has opted in parallel to pursue the path of finesse and elegance. Who better than the Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget can claim to have made such an indelible imprint on the history of ultra-thin mechanical timepieces? Half a century ago, the House of Piaget designed, developed and produced ultra-thin mechanisms that are still absolute benchmarks in this field: the 9P manual-winding calibre presented in 1957, followed in 1960 by the self-winding 12P movement which, at just 2.3 mm thick, put Piaget in the Guinness Book of Records as the creator of ?the world?s thinnest self-winding movement?. Then Piaget introduced the modern 430P, 450P and 438P movements measuring a mere 2.1 mm thick, and the new line of 600P (tourbillon regulator) movements. The Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget has achieved unparalleled success through placing technical expertise in the service of creativity. It rapidly explored the new opportunities afforded by the slenderness of its movements, developing men?s watches featuring restrained elegance as well as jewellery watches adorned with precious stones. Piaget has thus earned a unique reputation in this domain, to the point where this speciality has become inseparably associated with the brand itself. As everyone knows, each human being has a unique fingerprint. Piaget offers an opportunity to create a unique and personalised watch with the fingerprint of one?s choice. For the 2007 Only Watch auction, under the patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Piaget has created a unique Altiplano watch with a dial design based on his fingerprint.
