Notes

Total WEIGHT of the movement 2,82 gramme. Very little information is known on Pierre Morand. He is often presented as a Geneva watchmaker that worked between 1770 and 1790. Little is known on his Geneva location but in 1783 his name is mentioned in Paris, as most likely his creations were being produced in Geneva but sold in Paris. A few pieces of his are exposed in the Patek Philippe museum including a similar ring watch (Antiquorum, April 18th 1998, lot 61 sold for CHF 168'500). Made in 1785, this movement size is an absolute masterpiece for the time, when creating movements of this refinement and quality was only possible by the very best watchmakers of the time.
