A commemorative medal in bronze, made circa 1997, by R. Duboc (?-?), struck in honour of commandant Jacques-Yves Cousteau (1910-1997), made for the Edition Robert Lafont, Paris.

On the obverse, the inscription: “Commandant Jacques Yves Cousteau / R. Duboc”.

On the reverse, the inscription: “Le monde des océans / La Calypso / Robert Laffont éditeur”.

If this medal is not strictly speaking directly linked to watchmaking, it is on the other hand a very beautiful object in relation with the world of diving and collectors of diving wristwatches.

As a reminder, Jacques Yves Cousteau (1910-1997) was a French explorer and the Commander of Calypso and had privileged relations with the Comex and the Swiss manufactures Omega and Rolex.
