RACINE QUARTER-REPEATER DUPLEX ESCAPEMENT GOLD Racine, Geneve, No. 40948. Made circa 1840. Fine, slim, quarter-repeating, 18K gold pocket watch with duplex escapement. Accompanied by two winding keys, various letters and explanations about the duplex escapement.

Four-body, "bassine et filet", coin-edge band, polished bezel, engine- turned back with polished border and central monogramed cartouche. Hinged gold cuvette. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel "fleur-de-lys" hands. 43 mm., 19''', frosted gilt, duplex escapement with gold escape wheel, bimetallic balance, flat balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band.
