Notes

Robert & Courvoisier. The company was founded in 1770 by J. Robert of La Chaux-de- Fonds, who in 1781 went into partnership with his son-in-law Louis Courvoisier. The company was first called J. Robert Son & Co., in 1805 Robert, Courvoisier, & Co., and in 1816, Courvoisier & Co. Along with the Jaquet-Droz firm, they were the most significant makers of musical clocks.
