Ref. 15038 ?DATE? Rolex, ?Oyster Perpetual, Date, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified?, Ref. 15038/ 15000. Case No. 6541559. Made in 1981. Fine, center-seconds, self-winding, waterresistant, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with date and gold plated Rolex buckle.

C. Three-body, polished and brushed, screweddown case back and crown, faceted bezel, crystal with "cyclops" lens. D. Satiné silver with applied black-edged yellow gold bâton indexes, luminous dot outer minute/seconds divisions. Luminous yellow gold "bâton" hands. M. Cal. 3035, rhodiumplated, 27 jewels, straight line lever escapement, free-sprung monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock-absorber, self-compensating free-sprung flat balancespring, Microstella regulating screws. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 34 mm. Thickness 12.5 mm.

The overall excellent condition of this watch is further enhanced by the fact it still retains the original Rolex case back sticker. The present lot bears two reference numbers: 15038 between the lugs, which refers to the specific characteristics of this watch and 15000 in the case back.. References 15038 and 15000 are identical, with the exception of the bezel. The case bodies and backs were interchangeable at the factory.
