Notes

This watch with its enamel dial, is amongst the most collectable of Rolex?s ?Time Only? watches. The dial of this watch is particularly interesting in that there is a double baton index at 12 instead of the Rolex crown logo, which is placed below, In period advertisements we can see the same type of dial, using the small Rolex crown below the 12 instead of at 12. For an example of this, see page 55, ?Rolex Collezionare Orologi da Polso?, 2001 Edition, by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, Genova, The caliber A.260, 9 3/4???, was produced between 1940 and 1951. A similar watch, with green enamel dial, Ref. 6085, was sold by Antiquorum in Oct. 2005, lot 318. This watch is illustrated in ?Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches?, by Osvaldo Patrizzi, 2001 Edition, p. 182.
