Ref. 4467 ?Datejust? , So-called ?Ovetone? Rolex ?Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer?, Ref. 4467. Case No. 602728. Made in 1947. Very fine and rare center seconds, selfwinding, water-resistant, tonneaushaped, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with date and an 18k yellow gold Rolex buckle.

C. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed case back and crown, reeded bezel. D. Matte silver with applied gold, dart, luminous triangular indexes and radium-coated dots, outer minute/seconds track with Arabic five minute markers, aperture for the date. Luminous yellow gold ?Alpha? hands. M. 101/2''' rhodium plated, 18 jewels, lever escapement, Superbalance, self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Dial, case, and movement signed. Diam. 36 mm. Thickness 14 mm.

Reference 4467 was launched in 1945 and was the first water-proof, self-winding, certified chronometer wristwatch to display the date. These early watches do not bear the name ?Datejust? on the dial though this made was referred to as such in period advertising. This watch soon became the number one selling watch by Rolex.
