"Cotton Bowl Classic - Datejust" Rolex, ?Oyster Perpetual, Datejust, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified?, Ref. 1603. Made in a very limited number to celebrate the 1970 ?Cotton Bowl?. Exceptionally rare and fine, center-seconds, self-winding, water-resistant, stainless steel gentleman's wristwatch with special imprint on the dial (see foot note), date and a stainless steel Rolex buckle. Accompanied by an extra black dial.

C. Three-body, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, 60 graduation engine-turned bezel, crystal with "Cyclops" lens. D. Satiné silver with applied steel bâton indexes and luminous dots, outer 1/2 minute/seconds graduation, aperture for the date, imprint: ?1970 Cotton Bowl Classic?. Luminous steel ?bâton? hands. M. Cal. 1570, rhodium-plated, "oeil-de-perdrix" decoration, 26 jewels, straight line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, shock-absorber, self-compensating free-sprung Breguet balance-spring, Microstella regulating screws, hack mechanism. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 36 mm. Thickness: 12mm.

Notes

The very first Cotton Bowl took place on January 1, 1937. The football match was attended by 17,000 fans. Today, nearly 70,000 fans as well as a large television audience watch the game, located in Dallas, Texas. The tradition was started in 1935 by a Dallas oilman named J. Curtis Sanford who came up with the idea as to compete with the famed California Rose Bowl. In 1970, the top-ranked Longhorns carried a 19-game winning streak and 499 alltime victories into the 1970 Cotton Bowl against No. 9 Notre Dame.
