Notes

This watch is one of a limited number of watches ordered by the Cigarette 1 racing boat company, and used for promotional purposes. Ref. 5513 The Submariner, was launched with ?Crown-Guard? in 1959, and was only produced in stainless steel and remained in the Rolex Catalogue until 1990. This reference has been the choice of many of the world?s elite military forces. It is said that the two things that give away a member of the U.S. Special Forces identity are his sapphire ring and his Rolex Submariner. The 5513 remained in production until 1991. A similar watch is published in ?Rolex: Collecting Modern and Vintage Wristwatches? by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore Genova, 2004, vol. 1, p. 358-359.
