Notes

Reference 6264 is considered one of the rarest of the ?Paul Newman? references; it was used for only a two years, and was a transitional model between the references 6263 and 6241, with round push buttons, and the references 6263 and 6265, with screw-down push buttons, and still had a round push button. The present lot bears two reference numbers, 6264 between the lugs, which refers to the specific characteristics of this watch, and 6239 in the case back. The case bodies and backs were interchangeable at the factory. Similar watches are published in "Rolex, Collecting Modern and Vintage Wristwatches", by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, Genova 2005, p. 137.
