Notes

The present lot bears two reference numbers: 6263 between the lugs, which refers to the specific characteristics of this watch, and 6265 in the case back. The case bodies and backs were interchangeable at the factory. Reference 6263 was produced from 1971 to 1987 in stainless steel, 14K and 18K yellow gold, and two examples in platinum specially made for the Sultan of Oman. Similar watches are published in "Rolex, Collecting Modern and Vintage Wristwatches", by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, Genova 2005, vol. I, p 138-144.
