Notes

Ref. 5513 The Submariner, was launched with ?Crown-Guard? in 1959, and was only produced in stainless steel and remained in the Rolex catalogue until 1990. This reference has been the choice of many of the world?s elite military forces. It is said that the two things that give away a member of the U.S. Special Force?s identity are his sapphire ring and his Rolex Submariner. A similar watch is illustrated in ?Rolex Collecting Modern and Vintage Wristwatches? by Osvaldo Patrizzi, Guido Mondani Editore, Genova, 2006, vol. II, p. 224.
