So-Called "Paul Newman" Rolex Cosmograph "Daytona", Ref. 6241 with anti-reflective black bezel. Made in 1969. Very fine and rare, water-resistant, 14K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with round button chronograph, registers, tachometer and an 18K yellow gold ?Fliplock? deployant clasp. Accompanied by a Rolex box.

C. Three-body, solid, polished and brushed, screwed-down case back and crown, tachometer graduation on the bezel to 200 units per hour. D. Bi-colored black and guilloché gold with applied black and luminous dot indexes, outer minute/seconds and 1/5th seconds divisions, subsidiary dials for the seconds, the 12-hour and 30-minute registers. Luminous yellow gold "baton" hands. M. Cal. 722-1, rhodium-plated, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, monometallic balance adjusted to 3 positions, shock absorber, self-compensating Breguet balance spring. Paul Newman A Hollywood veteran whose career has spanned decades, Paul Newman is one of the film industry?s biggest and most beloved stars. Newman received a special honorary Oscar in 1985 and a Best Actor Oscar the following year for his performance in ?The Color of Money?. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1925, Newman began his acting career with a local children?s drama group. On his eighteenth birthday he enlisted in the Navy, spending three years as a radioman on torpedo bombers in the Pacific. After graduating from college, he enrolled in Yale drama school. In 1958 Newman married actress Joanne Woodward. He has directed his wife in several films, such as the 1968 ?Rachel, Rachel?, for which he was nominated for an Oscar as producer, and the 1987 adaptation of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. A philanthropist and activist, in 1998, Newman started the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, for children with serious illnesses; it is located in Connecticut.
