Notes

Ref. 6062.
Produced from 1949 to 1953, with 350 examples in yellow gold, 50 examples in pink gold and very few in stainless steel. This reference features a great variety of indexes; with the rarest being the diamond indexes and then the star indexes. Very few examples have black dials, and only two are known with black dial and diamond indexes. Watches with black dials always had the moon featured on a black enamel sky.
Ref. 6062 was produced in 18K yellow and pink gold as well as stainless steel; Ref. 8171 was produced in 14K and 18K pink and yellow gold, as well as stainless steel. It is interesting to note than in period advertising this watch was referred to as the Oyster Perpetual ?COSMOGRAPH?, antimagnetic. In 1960, this watch cost 100,500 lire in stainless steel, 18K gold 280,500 and with 18K gold bracelet 434,500 Lire. This watch is illustrated in ?Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches?, by Osvaldo Patrizzi, 2001 Edition, p. 282.
