Notes

This reference is called "Padellone" by Italian collectors. The interior case back is stamped with the number 288 referring to the fact that the present watch was the 288th example of the reference 8171 to be made. The collection of Guido Mondani all started with a ref. 8171 which he received from his wife as a gift for his 41st birthday, the ref. 8171 inspired Mr. Mondani to start a Rolex collection of highest quality. Mr. Mondani named the ref. 8171 as the 'Foundation' watch.
