Ref. 1490 ?1/4 Century Club? Rolex, "Prince Brancard", Eaton "1/4 Century Club", case No. 54020, Ref. 1490. Made circa 1942 for the 25th anniversary of the Quarter Century Club. Very fine and rare, flared, rectangular, curved, 14K yellow gold wristwatch with an 14K yellow gold ?bamboo? bracelet.

C. Two-body, solid, polished, snap-on case back engraved with "Presented to Fred C. L. Promoli to mark a quarter century of continuous service with T. Eaton C., Ltd, 1917 - 1942", flared sides, curved lugs. D. Two-tone silver with the champlevé letters "1/4 Century Club" instead of numerals, subsidiary dial for the seconds. Blued steel feuille hands. M. 7 1/2???, rhodium-plated, "Ultra Prima", 18 jewels, lateral lever escapement, monometallic balance, timed to 6 positions, self-compensating Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Dim. 25 x 32 mm. Thickness 8 mm.

The 1/4 Century Club
Timothy Eaton (1834-1907) opened his first department store in Toronto in 1869. By the early 20th century T. Eaton Co. Ltd. had become one of Canada?s largest retailers. The 1/4 Century Club watches, made from the 1930s until as late as the 1960s, were given by the company to employees in thanks for 25 years of loyal service.
